Quick Fix
Most upload issues can be resolved by refreshing the page and trying again. If that doesn't work, check the solutions below.
Common Upload Errors
Error: File size exceeds 10 MB limit
Your file is too large to upload. Maximum allowed size is 10 MB.
Solutions:
- 1. Compress your PDF using online tools (SmallPDF, ILovePDF)
- 2. Remove high-resolution images from the document
- 3. Save as "Web Quality" or "Reduced Size" PDF
- 4. Convert to plain text format (.txt) for smallest size
Error: File format not supported
The file type you're trying to upload isn't supported by CVReady.
Supported formats:
- ✓ PDF (.pdf)
- ✓ Word (.doc, .docx)
- ✓ Plain Text (.txt)
- ✓ Rich Text (.rtf)
If you have a different format:
- 1. Open the file in its original application
- 2. Save As or Export to PDF
- 3. Upload the PDF version
Error: Upload failed - Network timeout
The upload couldn't complete due to network connectivity issues.
Troubleshooting steps:
- 1. Check your internet connection stability
- 2. Try uploading a smaller file first
- 3. Disable VPN if you're using one
- 4. Clear browser cache and cookies
- 5. Try a different browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari)
- 6. Upload during off-peak hours for better speed
Error: Processing failed
The file uploaded successfully but couldn't be processed.
Common causes:
- • Corrupted file: Try opening the file locally first
- • Password protected: Remove password protection
- • Scanned image without text: Ensure PDF has selectable text
- • Encrypted document: Save an unencrypted version
What to do:
- 1. Verify the file opens correctly on your computer
- 2. Try "Save As" to create a fresh copy
- 3. Convert to a different format and try again
- 4. Use the "Reprocess" option if available
Browser-Specific Issues
Chrome Issues
- • Clear cache: Settings → Privacy → Clear browsing data
- • Disable extensions: Try incognito mode
